Another busy month! Here's a roundup of what's been happening across HyperXTalk and the website in September.
What's New in HyperXTalk
The web browser widget on Linux is now officially merged into main. We mentioned WebKitGTK last month as something in progress — it's now fully landed and working reliably on most mainstream distros. A significant milestone for Linux users.
WebP image support has been added, meaning HyperXTalk can now read and display WebP images alongside the existing formats. WebP is widely used on the web and it's great to have it covered.
Dark mode on Linux has received a round of fixes. If you were seeing inconsistent colours or UI elements not respecting the system dark theme, those issues should now be resolved.
A big thank you to our community contributors this month. Bernd has been submitting IDE fixes, while Mark and Brian have been doing invaluable testing and C++ fixes. This is open source working exactly as it should — the project is better for it. 🙏
On the Website
The new Guides section launched this month — practical, task-focused walkthroughs sitting between the tutorials and snippets. Four guides are live so far, covering toolbars, SQLite databases, preferences, and file handling, with more in the works.
The Team page is also new — come say hello. And the Roadmap has been updated to include 0.9.17, which will be a dedicated bug fix and stability release with no new features. Quality over quantity. 😄
As always, the forum is the best place to ask questions, share what you're building, or just chat. 😊
